Once again we have learnt a bit about Victorian London. This book shows the worry of Victorian Londoners about diet and their ignorance about diet, and whether corpulence could be detrimental to health. Interesting enough, some doctors believe that water was fattening and instructed patients to stop drinking it, while others thought that butter contained fat but that didn’t mean it could transform into fat when consumed.
