SPOILERS!!!!
Ursula has a baby girl, Bess, and throughout her pregnancy she was worried that her baby may not be Jake’s. We discover that she had an affair with Anders. When she told him about her pregnancy, he almost threatened her, saying that the baby wasn’t his. Then he moved to New York. Ursula feared that the baby would be blonde like Anders, but in the end, she was relieved when her baby girl had dark hair and eyes like her and Jake.
Ursula is in the paeditrician when the terrorist attack on September 11 takes place. The company she works for has offices in the World Trade Centre, and it is there that Anders works. Ursula is horrified to learn that he died as well as many others from her firm. So she makes a decision and tells Jake. She wants to return to Indiana, where they are originally from, and will run for office. And the next year she wins the elections.
Mallory has a baby boy. When she discovered she was pregnant, she told Fray, explaining that she didn’t expect him to do anything. Fray and Mallory simply had a moment of passion, but they are not in love. Fray then told her that he wanted to be in his son’s life. So Fray and Mallory remain friends, and Fray comes to Nantucket regularly with his girlfriend to see his son.
