Oh poor Kate! All that is happening is playing havoc on her nerves, confidence and sobriety. Dr Meredith, Peter’s psychiatrist, asks her to meet her in London, and even though Kate doesn’t want to, she finally agrees. The doctor tells her that a letter for Peter was intercepted, and to Kate’s horror what the woman shows her is a copy of a photo of Jake on his FaceBook page, and a note from the fan to Peter, making reference to Jake and how he could be a chip off the old block.

After that, Kate is so shaken that she almost drinks when she is unable to get to her parents, Jake or even her brother. A pair of men are giving out samples of a new alcoholic drink, and Kate takes a cup, intending to down it. Thankfully, someone bumps into her and makes her drop the cup. That makes her react, and on the train home her mother calls her, and Kate tells her everything except the part about being tempted to drink again. Glenda reassures her that Jake is fine, and the school knows about his case and he will be protected.

Tristan calls her as well and tells her that there is a vigil for the last victim that evening, and he thinks they should go. Kate agrees, and they go there. They join the people and see Layla’s parents and siblings. Everybody walks to the church together, and what Kate and Tristan don’t know is that the murderer is in the crowd. DCI Varia Campbell and DI Mercy are there too. When Kate and Tristan stop by a pub to have something to eat, the killer is there, and he even dares to look at her without hiding, but Kate doesn’t register what is happening around her. Then when they return to the car, there is a note on the windscreen. The note comes from the killer, and it says that he has been very close to her. On reading that she becomes anxious and panicky, and Tristan calls Varia and Mercy. Kate cries that the handwriting is the same as in the notes left near the corpses and in the one intercepted by Doctor Meredith.

Oh my! I hope this man is stopped soon. Now I’m afraid for Kate and Jake, and I hope that nothing happens to either of them.
