Fear Nothing 4 (Pages 170 – 260)

SPOILERS!!!

The next victim of the rose killer is Sgarzi’s mother. DD and her team think that Shana is behind these deaths, and she somehow manages to communicate with someone outside prison. Adeline feels afraid that the vials she keeps with skin strips from her one-night stands could be discovered, so she decides to get rid of them, and she goes to different shopping centres and flushes the strips down the toilet.

Shana wants to talk to Adeline, and she tells her that she has no way to communicate with anybody. If she knows things is because she is very observant. For example, when she mentioned the fuchsia sweater, she noticed that there was a fuchsia thread on Adeline’s clothes. What Shana says is that there is a copycat of their father out there, and Adeline is in danger. What she wants is a furlough so that she can stay with Adeline and protect her. In that sense Shana is right because the killer has moved in a flat in Adeline’s building.

The police and Adeline meet a former inmate, and she tells them about the prison officers who Shana killed. One of them was a nightmare, raping the inmates and humiliating them. This officer, Frankie, even spent nights in prison on his days off. Then Shana started to mock him, saying that his wife had left him. As Frankie went for her, she stabbed him over and over again, killing him. That sent her to solitary, and this woman , Christi, saw Shana talked to a second officer, and he killed himself. According to Christi, Shana killed defending the weak.

Adeline doesn’t think that her sister is the killer, but she starts doubting that she killed Donnie. The reason why she didn’t protest when she was arrested is because Shana just doesn’t care about anything. Adeline thinks that the key to these murders is in the past, the time when Donnie was killed. Now that his cousin is asking questions, the killer is getting nervous.
