I have just read the prologue of this book.
The scene describes Constance Barrington, who is in her death bed, and she has called her lawyer to change her will. She knows that her son, Matthew, will be surprised that the last will of his mother he knows won’t be valid. The lawyer warns Constance about it, but she already knows the uproar she will cause, but she doesn’t care.
The beginning is full of enigmas. Who is Constance Barrington? Why does she want to change her will and keep it a secret from her son? We can gather that Matthew will get a big disappointment, so what has he done to make his mother change the will?
