What we first learn about Daniel is that he has studied medicine and that year he is doing his foundation programme. The UK Foundation Programme is a two-year structured programme of workplace-based learning for junior doctors that forms a bridge between medical school and speciality training. The programme aims to provide a safe, well-supervised environment for doctors to put into practice what they learned in medical school.

Laura and Howard live in Kensington. Kensington is an affluent district within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in West London. The north east is taken up by Kensington Gardens, once private, as the name suggests, but today a public park with Italian and Dutch gardens, public buildings such as the Albert Memorial, the Serpentine Gallery and Speke‘s monument.

Cherry has her flat in Tooting. Tooting is a district of South London.

Where she grew up is Croydon, which is a place she hates. Croydon is a large town in south London, England. The principal settlement in the London Borough of Croydon, it is one of the largest commercial districts outside Central London, with an extensive shopping district and night-time economy.

The first moments of friction with Cherry take place in St Tropez, where Laura has a villa. Saint-Tropez is a town, 100 kilometres  west of Nice.

When Daniel and Cherry go drafting and he gets hurt, it is on the River Tryweryn. The Tryweryn is a river in North Wales which starts at Llyn Tryweryn in the Snowdonia National Park.
