The book starts and ends in Dublin Maternity Hospital.  The National Maternity Hospital, Holles Street, Dublin, popularly known as Holles Street Hospital, is the largest maternity hospital in Ireland. The hospital delivers over 10,000 babies per year. It is the national referral centre for complicated pregnancies, premature and sick infants.

Foxrock is where Donna, Tina, and Catherine lived. Foxrock is a suburb of Dublin.

William and his family lived in Castleknock, which is another suburb of Dublin.

Perth in Australia is where Lexie moves to and William lives for a while. Perth  is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. It is the fourth-most populous city in Australia, with an estimated population of 2.04 million.

Joondalup is where Lexie and her husband live. Joondalup is a regional metropolitan city within Perth approximately 26 kilometres  north of Perth’s central business district.

William also travels to Margaret River. Margaret River is a town in the South West of Western Australia, located in the valley of the eponymous Margaret River, 277 kilometres  south of Perth. Margaret River’s coast to the west of the town is a renowned surfing location, with worldwide fame for its surf breaks.The surrounding area is the Margaret River Wine Region and is known for its wine production and tourism, attracting an estimated 500,000 visitors annually.

He also visits Mammoth Cave. Mammoth Cave is a large limestone cave 21 km south of the town of Margaret River in south-western Western Australia, and about 300 km south of Perth. It lies within the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park and is surrounded by Karri and Marri forest. It has also had extinct animal fossils found in mammoth cave.

Monkey Mia is another place in Australia. I first heard of it when Lexie sends a postcard of the place to Donna, and Tina wishes she could go there. Monkey Mia is a popular tourist destination located about 900 km north of Perth. The reserve is 25 km northeast of the town of Denham in the Shark Bay Marine Park and World Heritage Site.

Another place is the Florence Falls. The Florence Falls  is a segmented waterfall on the Florence Creek located within the Litchfield National Park in the Northern Territory of Australia.

Kununurra is a town in far northern Western Australia located at the eastern extremity of the Kimberley Region approximately 37 kilometres  from the border with the Northern Territory. Kununurra was initiated to service the Ord River Irrigation Scheme.

Ivanhoe or Ivanhoe Station is a pastoral lease and cattle station located just north of Kununurra. Ivanhoe Crossing was built in 1954 on a rocky outcrop to cross the Ord river.

Bondi Beach is the last place William goes to before travelling to New Zealand. Bondi Beach is a popular beach and the name of the surrounding suburb in Sydney. Bondi Beach is located 7 km  east of the Sydney central business district.

William and Donna first meet in Christchurch, New Zealand. Christchurchis the largest city in the South Island of New Zealand.

They can’t meet a second time there because of the 2011-earthquake. An earthquake occurred in Christchurch on 22 February 2011 at 12:51 p.m. local time  and registered 6.3 on the Richter scale. William and Donna were supposed to meet at the cathedral. The earthquake destroyed the ChristChurch Cathedral‘s spire and part of its tower, and severely damaged the structure of the remaining building.
